At precisely 7:05, the theater’s automated projector clicked on and the reflective vinyl screen lit up. No one showed up in costume, but all were eager to get a first look at the state-of-the-art theater in their hometown.Įverything went as planned on opening night. Owner Elmo Baca was behind the cash register dressed in a natty navy blazer and checkered shirt, looking cool-headed and greeting friends. The outside of the theater was lit up with blue lights, and the lobby was decorated with Star Wars posters and inflatables of R2-D2 and Kylo Ren, commander of First Order missions.
